Pray for the Day of Prayer

The 2010 National Day of Prayer is this Thursday May 6. It has made headlines recently because a federal judge in Wisconsin ruled the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional. Saying the day amounts to a call for religious action, U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb wrote that the government can no more enact laws supporting a day of prayer than it can encourage citizens to fast during Ramadan, attend a synagogue or practice magic.

Our country is definitely in a battle to maintain its Christian roots. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the desire of the nations. Whether the United States realizes it or not, our nation longs for the reign and rule of Jesus Christ. May the Church not only pray for a divine epiphany but also demonstrate the goodness of God in word and deed.

The LORD is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him" Nahum 1:7
